DIY Electric Fireplace with Built-ins

This video shows how I installed an electric fireplace with built-in display cabinets in my family room in 2023.

The total project cost was around $3,500. No products were sponsored for this project, although the stone veneer was leftover from a previously sponsored video.

Products Used

My exact fireplace is a Dimplex Revillusion 36-inch Portrait with Weathered Concrete liner (model #RBF36PWC). You can buy it from many online stores for the same exact price (price fixing??) but I caught it on sale at Amazon. I'm an Amazon affiliate so I'll get a small commission, at no cost to you, if you buy any of these products using my links. Thanks!

The Dimplex Revillusion fireplace comes ready to be hard-wired to 120V or 240V. If you want to plug it in, like I did, don't buy their cord set. Save your money; any 14 gauge appliance cord will do. But it needs to be rated for 15 amps!

The fireplace also comes in different sizes and a herringbone brick liner.

I also bought the optional Glass Doors and White Birch Log Set. The doors reduce the amount of dust on the logs and increase the illusion of the fire. The standard log set looks like charred oak logs; the two optional log sets (white birch and fresh cut wood) look nice whether the fireplace is on or off.

The cabinets are 18x40x15 IKEA SEKTION cabinets with BODBYN doors and glass shelves. Note: These cabinets are called METOD outside of the USA.

I bought a 3-pack of puck lights for the cabinets. They were reasonably priced and came with a power supply and inline dimmer. Although they flicker slightly on the video, they look awesome to the eye.
