Emporia Energy Management

Emporia is a small Colorado-based company that makes products to monitor and conserve energy. They make high quality products that are very reasonably priced compared to peers.

Here are the products that I've personally tested:

Emporia Vue Energy Monitor

Gen 3
Gen 2

Don't let the price of the Emporia Vue Energy Monitor fool you. This little device installs in your circuit panel to monitor and record all of your energy utilization, as well as solar energy generation, where applicable. Use the Emporia app on your smartphone or computer to view detailed charts of wattage, amperage, and cost of each circuit over various time periods (seconds to years).

Emporia Vue Level 2 EV Charger

The Emporia EV Charger is one of the most cost effective Level 2 home chargers on the market. It delivers up to 11.5kW of power via a standard J1772 plug for the fastest home charging possible to a wide range of electric vehicles. Plus it integrates with the Emporia app so you can know exactly how much energy you've used and what it costs to drive your car.

Emporia Smart Plugs

Emporia Smart Plugs are WiFi-connected devices that allow you to control lights, fans, lamps, humidifiers, and any other appliances or electronics that plug into 120V outlets, with schedules or conveniently from your smartphone, Amazon Alexa, or Google Home Assistant. In addition, they are mini energy monitors that track usage in the Emporia app.

I have a 3 phase air conditioner that trips the 90amp breaker intermittently. I would like to monitor the input power to the service panel as well as the current draw on each of the 3 legs to the AC unit to see if there is an intermittently power fluctuation. Will this device record and store a power event that I can go back and review?

I’m not 100% sure this will explain

        why

it’s happening, but it will give you insight into the current drawn on each leg over time. Maybe the breaker trips because the current slowly rises on one leg when it runs more than an hour. In that case, you could get a notification when it starts rising.
