Chalk Painted Dressers
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? This was my first timeĀ using chalk paint, and I think it turned out really well!
I built this furniture in 1991 for our baby's room, back when golden oak was in fashion.Ā After our threeĀ babies were grown, the changing table went into the attic and I built a bookcase to put over the chest.Ā 25 years later, for Tom's bedroom makeover, we wanted to give this traditional furniture a bold face lift with black chalk paint and contemporary handles.
We considered using the furnitureĀ as-is, but the antique brass handles were just awful and would not go with Tom's decor. The old handles had non-standard hole spacing, so if I wanted to change the handles, I'd need to move the holes. If I wanted to move the holes, I'd need to paint the furniture.Ā I always wanted to try chalk paint, so I decided to use it on this project.
