Crazy Bedroom Lighting

I know. I know. I'm crazy. Who needs lighting like this in a bedroom? Well, this crazy bedroom lighting is a testament to my obsession with lights; an obsession that I have in common with my son – both from a very young age.

This video is part of my son's bedroom makeover and it goes into detail about how (and why) I installed these crazy LED lights (sometimes called “dream” lights) in his bedroom.

Different Kinds of LED Lights

There are three basic kinds of LED light strips:

• Solid color – All lights are always the same color (i.e. you select the color when you buy them)
• RGB color – The string can change color, but the whole string is always the same color
• Dream color – Lights on the string are addressable as pixels so they can animate different patterns

I used dream color lights (sometimes known as “magic” or “dream magic” lights) in my son's room.
