Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights PRO EDITION

The most popular DIY solution for permanent holiday lighting by Govee is getting an upgrade to a new PRO version that has many advantages over the standard version.

The new PRO kits are available in white or black, have brighter lights with slimmer wires, Matter support, and true white LEDs with variable temperature from warm white to cool white.

J-channels for Temporary Use

I received a lot of questions how I attached the lights to my soffit in this video without permanently installing them.

I just bought a 12-foot piece of white J-channel at my local Home Depot. I cut it in two 6-foot pieces and used one for the standard edition and one for the PRO edition.

To mount the lights, I cut a slit on either side of each puck with tin snips.

Then I slipped the wires through the slits. No need to use the 3M adhesive.

Finally, I slipped the nailing flange of the J-channel right below the soffit trim. Just a friction fit; no screws. I didn't want any permanent damage.

I pulled the lights as far away from the corner as possible to give the best approximation of a “real” installation, but they are closer to the house than I would want for a permanent installation.
