TOJA Grid is a modular pergola system manufactured in Ontario, Canada. The system includes 14-gauge, powder coated steel hardware and weather-proof sunshades. TOJA Grid pergolas can be built with 4×4 or 6×6 lumber that you source locally, so you get to decide the wood species and stain to customize your look. Recommended Lumber

TOJA Grid includes the metal parts and shade tarps – lumber is not included. You supply the lumber locally from a home center or lumber yard.

All lumber is standard 4×4 posts (nominal 3.5 inch square) or 6×6 posts (nominal 5.5 inch square).

It is recommended that you use straight, kiln-dried, high quality lumber that will withstand weather. Teak, redwood and cedar will provided the best appearance. Standard pressure-treated posts from home centers are not recommended as they tend to be very damp and will warp or twist as they dry.

Lumber can routed, stained, or painted prior to assembly.

kiln-dried? they say use it, but from all my looking, you cannot buy kiln-dried 4×4.
and from all my ‘googling’ i’ve heard it takes anywhere from 6 months to 12 months to let it dry naturally. and, with that would it warp leaving me with a unusable pieces? i’m serious, i want to buy the tojagrid system, but it just doesn’t sound feasible without shaving the wood you buy which leads to issues down the road.
any suggestions on where to get that in Ottawa, ON, Canada?

In this video, my friend Rich used 4×4 cedar for his pergola. It looks great! Not sure if it was kiln dried or not, but he didn’t need to shave anything to fit in the brackets.

Sorry, can’t help you with a lumber source in Canada.
