Good charger. Ours I mounted outside. It's rained and been hot and sunny and it works just fine for us. Nice that it cut the charging time down from the Level 1 120v charger that it comes with (12-14hrs to charge the 34mi all-electric range battery). We had to wire a 240v 50a Nema 6-50 outlet to plug this Level 2 charger into. Now the 34mi range can be achieved in less than 3hrs (usually around 2 or just over). It's a J1772 charging port.Seems stable, it's basic (has no associated Smartphone connectivity features) but our minivan has a charging schedule you can set up to tell it when to charge and when to stop so having a basic charger works just fine for us. Honestly it's nicer I think because now there's less to go wrong or break or setup. The charger has a plate that screws into the wall (much easier to do up against drywall than up against siding) then you slide the charger onto the mounting plate and secure it with a screw. There's a loop to put a lock on so that no one can unscrew the plate and slide the charger off, which is a nice safety feature. Screws and parts are stainless steel which also contributes well to its indoor/outdoor rating. Then there's another thing to screw into the wall, it's a clip to put the charger head into as well as coil up the wire around like a hose hanger. The only limitation for this device for me is the short length of the supply line. The cord that connects the charger to the wall outlet is only several inches and means that wherever your outlet is mounted you also have to mount the charger in unnaturally close proximity to the outlet. It'd be nice if it can with even just or 2-3ft power cord or were somehow retractable or coiled or some other innovative design that allowed for more flexibility when mounting the charger. The cords of course are fairly stiff and very thick (compared to normal 120v cords). All in all its a great, basic, rather cheap all weather level 2 charger that's seems pretty durable. Would definitely buy again or recommend. It's simple, easy to use, charges quickly, and hangs up nicely.

I chose this particular charger over some of the others with more features like wifi etc because I assume that less stuff to go wrong is a good thing. I drive a 2020 Chevy Bolt, which already has the mobile app for your phone that lets me monitor, and adjust charge settings remotely, so I don't need that tech built into the charger.

The charger came with the 6-50 plug that matched the 220 outlet that was already in my garage. so installing it was as simple as screwing the backing plate to the wall, sliding the unit onto the plate, and plugging it in. Only possible negative is that the cord is very short, and very stiff, so careful placement with regard to your 220 outlet is important.

The charge cord, and connector seem to be very high quality, and built to last. It comes with a nice holder/hook combo to mount on the wall. I don't think this was shown in the item photos, so was a nice surprise. I opted for the 25 foot cord... this lets me charge in the garage, or in the driveway.

Overall, i would highly recommend this product if you need a simple charger without a bunch of extra bells, and whistles.

The 32 amp charge rate is a perfect match for the Bolt, and will charge my car to full from near empty in about 8 hours. With my usual amount of daily driving, it only takes about 2 hours or less each night to top it off.

After 7 years of charging a Chevy Volt at 3.3kw my old CT500 died shortly after I acquired a Bolt EV that charges at 7.2kw. At that time this AmazonBasics EVSE appeared as a new item at a very attractive price when compared to equivalent models from JuiceBox, ChargePoint, etc. This being a new item, I was concerned about the limited duration of the warranty and an Amazon Product Specialist recommended this 3 year Electronics Protection Plan from Asurion ASIN B07PBYLYDK and answered several other questions. My initial intent was to hard wire the unit but after opening it I decided to use the provided power cord instead.

The shipping box and the printed circuit board are both marked with the LITE ON logo, an established brand in computer components. The exterior of the unit, the power cord and the charge cable all carry the UL logo as required for EVSEs by the NEC. The only installation issue I encountered is that the power cord is quite short and stiff requiring careful alignment of the unit relative to the NEMA 6-50R receptacle.

During initial use I noticed that the charge cable became warm to the touch. My non-contact IR thermometer registered 20 degrees F higher than free air ambient. The power conductors in the charge cable are marked 10 AWG which seemed light to me. However, the NEC permits 10 AWG conductors to carry more than 32 amps provided that the temperature rating of the cable is at least 60 degrees C, which this cable is. I was surprised to find that the charge cable conductors in my old commercial caliber CT500 are also 10 AWG. I probably never noticed a temperature rise with that cable because it was carrying lower power and the circumference of that charge cable is so much greater.

Since this purchase, I noticed another new EVSE (ASIN B07FY1181C) from PowerCharge with the same outward appearance as this one, a 3 year warranty and a 25' charge cable. The current price difference is about $100. Not unreasonable for the longer charge cord and longer warranty.

So I looked at this charger for a while before pulling the trigger. I decided to get it “new” because used was only like 40.00 off. When it arrived it was clear that it was used. The box for the device had been through the ringer and there were no directions on how to set it up. No direction at all. It looks like there’s a few pieces that need to be screwed to something. Idk what goes where and there are no screws of any kind with it. Very disappointed.
