La-Z-Boy Recliner Couch Repair

If your couch or chair has “rip-cord” handles next to the seat cushions, whether it's a La-Z-Boy or some other brand, this video will be useful to you. The angle of these cables is a design flaw that causes the wire to cut through the plastic and eventually break. After a handle breaks, it prevents you from operating the recliner and it causes a hazard because the wires are sharp.

Lifetime Warranty

The good news is that La-Z-Boy has a lifetime warranty on recliner mechanisms and these cables are included. Labor is only covered for one year, but they will send you replacement parts for life.

Contact La-Z-Boy

The toll-free number they gave me for parts is 1-855-802-6636. Take a picture of the white tag stapled under your couch; you'll need to have the numbers from that tag when you call.

Thank you for this! Would love an update to this video. We had this exact thing happen to our reclining sofa and the repair kit we got from La-z-boy is completely different–the D-ring is not one long piece of plastic and is connected to a two part, spring-loaded metal that needs to be installed (I can send pictures if you are unfamiliar with this, and interested.) And of course they don’t offer any repair guidance via a manual or video, although they’ll happily send someone to my house to do it for $150. Have you needed one of these repairs recently and gotten this wonky thing from La-z-boy? Were you able to figure it out? Thanks in advance if you’re able to shed some light on this for me!

Hi Jen. Unfortunately, I no longer have that couch to install the upgraded latch mechanism. Keep Googling and maybe someone else has done it.
